“It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before” – Hebrews 11:7 (NLT)
Faith is not just believing when things make sense; it is obeying even when you don’t understand. The Bible, especially the New Testament, is filled with commands—over a thousand of them—all given for our ultimate good. God’s instructions, such as “Love your enemies” or “Forgive those who hurt you,” often challenge our natural instincts. They may feel unreasonable, but God knows what will lead to true joy and fulfilment in our lives.
Brethren, God by His commands isn’t being harsh; He is safeguarding us from heartbreak, regret, and consequences we might not foresee. Every instruction in Scripture is a test of faith, asking us this question: Do we trust God, or do we trust ourselves?
As we navigate through 2025, we’re faced with critical decisions:
Will we follow God’s Word or be swayed by the world’s opinions?
Will we trust God’s wisdom, or will we rely on our own understanding?
Remember, faith is both believing when you cannot see and obeying when you cannot understand. If we refuse to obey, we risk missing the blessings God has prepared for us. However, when we trust Him fully—even when His commands challenge our logic or desires—we grow in faith and experience His favor.
This year, let’s make a conscious decision to respond to God’s Word in faith. Obedience may not always be easy, but it will always lead to growth and blessings. May this be the year we walk confidently in trust and obedience, allowing God to shape us and lead us into His perfect plan.
Think Over These
What is something God has told you to do that you did not believe was possible?
Why do you think God asks us to do things that are not possible in our own strength?
What steps of faith can you take this year in obedience to God?
Stay Blessed,
Pastor Ranti Orioke
