Living a Victorious Christian Life
“I have made a covenant with my eyes; Why then should I look upon a young woman? For what is the allotment of God from above, And the inheritance of the Almighty from on high? Is it not destruction for the wicked, And disaster for the workers of iniquity? " Job 31:1-3 NKJV
Christian life can be full of challenges, difficulties and trials, and this may not necessarily be as a result of sin. Job's experience demonstrates that pain and suffering are not necessarily directly connected to an individual's sin or lack thereof. Although not perfect, the Bible describes Job as 'blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil'.
Job knew that in spite of the accusations of his friends he had a totally clear conscience:
He Kept Himself Pure - 'I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl' (Job 31:1). He was not enticed in his heart into immorality.
He Avoided Materialism - He did not put his trust in riches in spite of the great wealth he had, "Have I put my trust in money or felt secure because of my gold?" (v.24)
He Was Generous - It was not just in his personal life that he avoided sin. He was fair to his employees (v.13). He did not deny 'the desires of the poor' (v.16a).
Job’s life was an example, a wonderful picture of holy and righteous living, an inspiration and a challenge to anyone who wants to live a life of victory. Nothing guarantees a victorious Christian life than living in holiness unto God.
Stay blessed,
